'Twas The Night Before Christmas

It was terrific to have Jason & Mary and their two boys, Tyson & Ryder with us for a few days during the Christmas holidays. Here Tyson & Ryder snuggle up to grandpa on Christmas eve, in their new Christmas PJ's, waiting for the customary reading of the Christmas story from Luke in the New Testament.

Tyson & Ryder had just finished preparing a plate of cookies for Santa and had been outside placing some reindeer food for Santa's reindeer. Their efforts paid off. Santa found the Jacobson home that evening and we had a Merry Christmas the next morning!

Cello Adventure

Jennifer decided she wanted to be in school orchestra this year and play the cello. Never mind that her older sister had played violin and we had several violins already paid for and sitting idle in a closet. So we rented a cello at a local music store to let her develop her emerging interest in stringed instruments. How great it was to attend the Christmas Concert and hear the miracle the orchestra teacher had been able to work with her students! We even recognized the Christmas songs the beginning orchestra performed.

Jennifer also decided she wanted to surprise her mom on her birthday by learning to play "Happy Birthday". With the help of her orchestra teacher she found cello music for "Happy Birthday" and practiced it at school or at times when her mom was someplace else. On the day her orchestra class had a Christmas party she even sat off by herself practicing her surprise while the rest of her classmates partied. What a sweet surprise she was able to give her mom following the birthday dinner.

Are we having fun yet?

We're new to this blogging thing. Our children and other family members have blogs. They are fun to read and in a way keep us connected. We didn't want to be left out so we decided to "jump on the band wagon."
The picture is of our dog, Scamp, just after being neutered. The look on his face is exactly how we feel (minus the neutering) while trying to figure out how to work this blog. We're a little slow but we'll get it figured out eventually...so until we do you'll have to be patient with our mundane entries. One of these days we'll even post some current pictures!
